biography

Hiten Bhundia (b.2004)  is an artist and editor whose practice moves between sculpture, painting and publishing. His work places the human body at its centre, treating it as a site through which questions of consciousness, selfhood and material existence can be explored. Creating works that speak to unveil the illusionary qualities of Maya cast over Brahman.
Bhundia often depicts bodies as multiplied, fragmented and transformed. Drawing from Advaita Vedanta and Hindu philosophies, his works investigate ideas of multiplicity, impermanence, moral action and the relationship between the material and immaterial. Recurring bodily forms, crimson palettes and cyclical compositions function as visual devices through which questions of desire, attachment and transformation are examined. With mechanical systems, digital processes and kinetic sculptures coming together, the body becomes both subject and metaphor, being both an illusion and instrument. A vessel through which still consciousness encounters active creative power to give rise to experience.
